I think this is a good idea. I was planning on something along
those lines myself, although I was thinking of something a little
more elaborate with 4 to 8 buffers per board (2 chips) I still have
a Stooge Moe Expressionist panel to complete along with 6 or so
other adaptations that need buffering. I would try to come up with
a scheme so that this could also be mounted on 1 or 2 jacks for
those panels without pots.

Sheepish question: what is a buffer in this case and why would I add
one to a project? I know about inverters/attenuators/amplifiers,
but not buffers...

Maybe you want to add an extra input or output to a module and buffering is
needed. I think (someone correct me if I am wrong) that buffer is
generically used as a term to describe a unity gain amp.
