design on balanced module

2003-08-22 by Markk W. Roberts

I am designing (yes, it DOES occur from time to time!) a new I/O module.
This is what I'm
thinking about:

a) has 2ea MOTM level-to-balanced out (+4dbu into 2 XLRs and TRS jack)

b) High-end headphone amp with several sneaky tricks (not telling!).

c) 2ea balanced in (XLR + 1 TRS) to MOTM level (+4dBu >>10V pk-pk)

Any thoughts (no 100 segment VFD bar graphs...sorry!)

Paul S.

my only idea that I would suggest is that the Jacks used for the XLR and 1/4
be one in the same... Neutrik makes them, center is the 1/4 inch and the
outer become an XLR, cause IMO you are going to use one or the other. save
on space, and cost's. I love the idea... *including the sneaky tricks* grin

Since you are already having MOTM to line level, how about putting some
line-level balanced screw connectors on the PC board. This way, it can
be wired into the rest of the studio patchbay (or a line-level connecter
on the back of the MOTM case)

Envelope follower and trigger on the ins?

Four outs instead of two?
