Kenton pro-2000 front jacks

Kenton pro-2000 front jacks

1999-10-25 by J. Larry Hendry

I ordered the Kenton pro2000 rack ears from Paul so I could get this thing
properly racked. Paul and I had discussed the idea of drilling these ears
to provide front panel 1/4" jacks. I did this and it works quite well. If
you put only 1/4 jacks, you can get six on each ear and use the same 7/8
wide spacing used on the MOTM modules. In the rack, they actually line up
right under the MOTM jacks. However, the up and down spacing has to be
reduced. I used 13/16 center to center.

Instead of 6 jacks on one side, I went for 4 plus a single MIDI jack. So,
I got the 2 channels of CV and gate and MIDI IN on one side and the 6 aux
voltages on the other side. I figure I wont need the other stuff on the
front panel.

I made a 1U panel an drilled holes for all 8 of the CV and Gate ( 16 total )
outputs on my Expressionist. Then soldered patch cords to the back to plug
into the outputs of the Expressionist. Works great.

Same kinda deal, just no extra rack space. I have heard some "good" things
about the Expressionist. Can you share some of the features and personal
likes / dislikes?

I did pretty much the same thing for my Kenton Pro-2000, except I also added 4 sets of Quad-Multiples Jacks to the panel (I come from the school that believes you can never have too many multiples, mixers, or envelope generators-see attached diagram).

This arrangement has served me well so far, and it is completely non-destructive to the Pro-2000. In keeping with the other MOTM modules, all jacks used were Switchcraft.
