Quality and AH review...

Quality and AH review...

2003-03-17 by Markk :-)

I just happened to be the guy over at Zon's listening to that wonderful little patch... man-o-man... what a great product, I am sooo soo happy I have chosse this direction. After owning many modular synth's myself, from Moog, Doepfer and Arp... I was just amazed at how wonderful the 300 and 310 VCO's sounded... (very reminicent of Moog 901B's) I think I am going to be a very happy synth nut for a long time...

And there's something *particularly* cool about the 310's sound. I
have three 300s and they are massively great, and a single 310 (with
one more on order). When I fired up the 310 for the first time,
something just kind of went ahhhhh.

Maybe I'm dreaming...nope, it *does* sound goooood.

I'm taking a break from AH, so I apologize if I missed this already,
but are you saying that the single waveforms from the 310 sound
noticably different than the 300?? Can it be seen on a scope??

I think it has to do with the SHAPE knob: it's continuously variable
from SAW to SQUARE, though not under voltage control. I really like
the sound of it at 12 o'clock (half SAW half SQUARE). You can get
the same effect by mixing the SQUARE and SAW outs of the 300.

One of my favorite things to do recently is to send a SAW from a 300,
a SQUARE from a second 300, and the half-and-half out of the 310 to
any of the 3 filters. With each oscillator slightly detuned, it
sounds huge.

Maybe I was waxing too mystical...
