question regarding my kenton pro solo problem?

2003-01-14 by gion2archery <gion2archery@yahoo.com>

Hello all,
I finally figured out how to join in on the discussions.
I have been reading for months and now I have a problem,
maybe some one can help me figure out what I am doing wrong.

The problem is my motm won't stop making noise.... ITS ALIVE!!

Seriously.. I bought a kenton Pro solo (to hold me off till Pauls cv
conv hits the market) I hook it up to my motm and I can play
notes but what ever key is hit last the note stays on? I've tried
changing the parameters on the pro solo, No Luck???

I am wondering if I have a defective kenton??

Am I just a retard or what's the Deal? chocolate, butterscotch
or rocky roccoco???

I am not a musician, I am into electronic noises.... been playing
with and building noise makers since the early 70's. I am a
commercial photographer not a electronic whiz like most of you
so excuse my ignorance.

Help,

 John

Are you running through a VCA?

If so, do you have the GAIN on the VCA set above 0?

Try this:

CV OUT of Kenton to MOTM 300 (COURSE = 5, FINE = 5)
GATE OUT of Kenton to MOTM 800 (ATTACK = 0, RELEASE = 5)
MOTM 300 SAW to MOTM-110 IN
MOTM 800 + to MOTM 110 CV
CV-MOD knob of MOTM-110 to 10
GAIN knob of MOTM-110 to 0

Play with the EG settings.

Mike

That was the problem.... I had the VCA (110 ) set above 0. I
purchased the 110 used and did not get any documentation with
it. I have 2 questions
1 What does the bias do?

2 what is the purpose of the gain

While I am at it, I heard you can use the Ring Modulator as a
VCA in a pinch... can someone eloborate on this?

Another question off the subject..
I am waiting for my power distrub. board (960) to come, problem
is I have 4 modules more than my 900 has outputs for.
Has any one made thier own cables with a Y on the female
ends? Is this a feasable way to power up those additional
modules till I get the 960 from paul?

I have been reading your forum since September and I finally got
the nerve to stick my nose in. I love my MOTM and I love to build
the kits, for me it is therapy away from my wife, (Shut that NOISE
up) I wish I lived up ;North where people have basements.

Thanks in advance

john
