Using the Aux outputs on the Pro 2000 to raise Filter Cutoff on 420

Hey Everyone, I'm trying to slowly raise the Filter cutoff on my 420 using the auxiliary output on my Pro 2000 going into the 1v/oct or FM2 jack on my 420(I have an 800 going into the FM1 jack). However, when the kenton receives the midi message to raise the filter a little bit, I hear a pop sound. Is this normal? I'm not sure if I need to use another 800 to smooth out each little progressive raising of the filter or if I don't have the kenton set up properly. Any ideas? Thanks, -Matt
