Analog Delay

1999-09-21 by Tkacs, Ken

As long as we're all analog lovers, I can safely ask this question-I wonder
if an Analog Delay Line module is in the future for MOTM?

I remember in the pre-DDL days, analog bucket brigade delays were all we had
(except for spring & tape), and we complained about the lack of high-end,
etc. But as with all things, now that there are alternatives (i.e., digital
delay), looking back on the old ways makes you feel like they did have some
neat character. Sweeping an analog delay had a unique depth to it.

I dunno, just thinking out loud. I noticed a bucket brigade chip in a Tech
America catalog over the weekend and it got me thinking.

Analog Delays - like good phase shifters are something I cannot get enough of.
Right now the best "new" one is the Electro Harminix Memory Man Deluxe (re-issue).

I am told the next Moogerfooger will be an analog delay...

whatia say Paul?

Yup, he showed it at Nashville this year...

Production may be a bit delayed though... I fear that Ashville, NC is under
water.

Hey, isn't Asheville where that honkin huge Vanderbilt chateau is? I was
there 2 summers ago. I had no clue Dr. Bob was in town too! Crap, that would
have been the highlight of my vacation!

Cool!

I've heard all this stuff about NC and seen the pics, but I couldn't place
where Asheville was in relation to anything else.

Thanks Tom!

I actually use to live about an hour from there. They are up in the
NC mountains. If they are under water we're all in trouble.
Well maybe not Colorado, but Atlanta and all of Florida would
be gone :-).

Yep. If you remember Mathematical Games from Scientific American, you'd
be interested to know that Marvin Gardener lives there too. Must be
the place where respected innovators go to retire...

Asheville has a good music scene, very bohemian town. Especially considering
that in most of western NC, evolution is still optional.

Analog Delay

2000-04-20 by Charles Stella

Thomas Henry still has some Reticon SAD-4096 chips for sale at Welcome
to Midwest Analog Products! in the parts section. He also posted the
free plans for this unit there along with the PCB artwork. It is based
on Craig Anderton's Hyperflange. I built one about 2 years ago and have
been pretty happy with it. Also the Roland SBF-325 is a great unit. I
see them fairly often on Ebay. I got mine for $250. Now modulating these
devices with my 320 and they are twice as good! Sounds like Paul may not
go down the BBD path which is sad but the parts issue is a real thing.
Charles.
