Inexpensive Alco knob alternative

Inexpensive Alco knob alternative

Here's an alternate source if you need knobs for MOTM-compatible
projects.

Radio Shack has "274-416 A" knobs at 4 for $3.00. I got them at a
local store, but it looks like they have them listed on their web
site as 274-416's.

They are nearly indistinguishable from the knobs that come with MOTM
kits. At 75 cents each, they're a dollar less than the Alco knobs,
and you don't have to buy 30 at a time.

There are slight differences. The Radio Shack knobs use a screwdriver
to lock on, instead of a hex key.

Hope this helps those of you that need to save a few bucks for more
modules!

I mentioned those same Radio Shack knobs a long time ago. But after buying a
pack I found that they are slightly larger, more uncomfortable to the touch
and cheaper feeling. They might be usable for private use if cost is a
concern, but nobody should use them to replace Alco knobs if supplying
modules to other people.
