I need a volunteer

I need a volunteer

2001-09-24 by bruce@sigalarm.com

I have been tinkering around with ways to drive MiniWaves using PIC
microcontrollers. The thought I had was why tie up a perfectly good
300 or mini VCO when all you really need is a good steady sawtooth to
do some basic driving.

Then I had thoughts that it might be possible to produce PPG style
timbre changes by doing some things to a basic sawtooth wave being
used to drive the MiniWave.

So I have some .wav files that have the proper output from this
?WaveDriver? module. But I don?t have a MiniWave? Ok, I am a goof.

Is there someone out there with a MiniWave that could play these sound
files through enough of a Preamp to get them to the MiniWave drive
voltage, and give me an idea if they are doing what I think they should?

Thanks

Bruce

hello,
kept this public cos i couldn't be bothered to send two emails :-)
oh yes, and there may well be public information contained herein

i'll give it a try if the wavs are small files, i can just chuck them in
sound forge and loop them
i've a feeling though that messing with the sawtooth wave form will affect
the mini-wave's ability to track pitch

which reminds me - has anyone gotten around to burning any mini-wave eproms
yet..? i'd really love to but i can't really justify the \ufffd150 for a burner
and the five years spend trying to put together 256 really good waveforms -
it's yet another new science for me
i did think though that it *may* be possible to put drums samples onto the
miniwave - get a few mini-wave and hey presto you're very own modular
SP-12..? seriously though, if the drum sound was recorded fast enough, then
a low pitch sawtooth could be used to play it back - erm, no practical use
really other than if you can do then then why not..?
