Coming up on Module #2000!

Coming up on Module #2000!

2001-05-11 by Paul Schreiber

I've been running around this week like a madman so much, it just dawned on
me that I'm about to
ship module #2000!

The owner will get a coupon in the package, good for $200 off *ANY* module
(yes, even VCOs) as my
way of saying thanks! (lots of you have received the limited edition MOTM
pen as well).

We are shipping at well above 30% over last year's pace. Shane and Jeremy
both garaduate in mid-June: I
hope 1 of them will stay a little longer to help catch up! Shane is busy
soldering up 9 VCOs (!!!) and Jeremy
is kitting up '440s and then moving on to the '830 Mixer.

The shippable backlog (ie not '830s) for kits is about 60 and for assembled
has catapaulted up to over 85! We are
going as fast a possible (what's new, says wife Tammy). So far this year
(and remember, 'this year' didn't start until
Jan. 18th) we have shipped about 460 modules. This is roughly the number
shipped by mid-July, last year. The
pace is such that module #2500 is easily this year, with maybe #3000 by
year's end? If I don't go insane by then.

Lastly, as a teaser: received the final, mastered version of Robert Rich's
all-MOTM CD "Bestiary" and in a
word(s): mind-blowing. I think it's safe to say that the only CD I have
heard remotely like this is Wendy Carlos'
"Beauty in the Beast". You play it straight through, and your first thoughts
are "I have NO idea what that was
I just listened to!" followed by."That's just amazing!". The ship date is in
Sept (he wants to have a gap in between
it and his 7 HOUR DVD 'Somnium' which just started shipping [highly
recommended]). I hope that towards the release
date he will allow some 'snippets' on the website. The dynamics are such
that only .WAV files can do it justice.
A sub-woffer (or really good speakers) is needed to hear what 4 MOTM-440s
can do in the lower bass register.

Well, back to work!

Congratulations Paul!

I just finished soldering 2/3 of my first MOTM kit (finished the power generator and envelope, the VCF still remains) and can't wait to be put on the wait-list for more of your modules.

Any chance we could get Robert to do a pre-release to fellow
MOTMers? :)

Hmmm.....only if his label (Release Records) allows it.

With a special price! And free promo materials. And an online kick-off
party with an online chat with Robert to field all of our geeky tech
questions.

I talked to Robert. His label probably wouldn't allow it. It was a
goofy suggestion on my part...
