I believe Paul has said that he doesn't plan to do a real simple sequencer. I'm designing an 8x4 / 16x2 10U big boy, but that's probably bigger than you want also. Sounds like a good diy project. If we get our diy panel silkscreen scheme going, a simple 8x1 3U panel might be a good addition to a "standard library" of available diy designs.
