A couple of pulse divider uses: 1. When sequencing rhythmic stuff, one typically uses a LFO as a clock for the timed pulses. Feed the clock into a pulse divider, and set it to divide by 3, 4, 6, 9, etc. to get other pulses which can be used to gate other things in precise rhythm. 2. Run audio into a pulse divider and get not just suboctaves, but any musical interval.
