RE: EG-mania

2000-02-04 by Hugo Haesaert

Huh All ? :)

I may be wrong about the MS20 (packed away in the attic), but my MS50
sits beside me as i'm typing this :

EG1 has dual + outs as you say, but look closely : the one on the
left has a dash and zero volts at the bottom of the graphic (-0V) .

The other one (right) has this dash and zero volts at the sustain
level, this means the envelope starts somewhere negative of 0V, then
peaks positive of 0V and then decays to 0V which is the sustain level
of the env, at gate off, the release kicks in and the output goes
negative again .

The negative env out is an inversion of this second out, not of the
one that starts at 0V, which would put the whole envelope below zero .

EG2's first out, on the left is a full positive env . The one you
call negative (right), starts way neg, then ramps up to zero and then
decays to negative again . Not an inversion here, but merely a shift
to negative .

The above may be a bit terse, but after your reactions i was
wondering if my brain was going soft . But rejoice, it's not :)

EG1
       /\
      / \
     / `-----. - - - -0V <- This is where the 2nd out has
    / \ it's zero volt point .
  -\ufffd `- -0V <- 1st out

My first attempt at ascimatic, hope it comes out ok, use a fixed
pitch font, pls .

Hope this has cleared up some "huh"'s ;-)

Cheers .

Keep 'em oscillating :)
