In lowpass filters, as res is changes, the bass falls off (negative feedback!). This is part of the "Moog sound". But the "SSM2040 sound" does *not* do this! Dave Rossum added 1 extra PNP transistor in the chip and had "bass compensation". So, in MOTM you have a choice! Paul S.
