I like the sound of soft sync. I like the sound of hard sync, too, but they are definitely different. Have you tried modulating the synced (slave) osc when using soft sync? FM it with an EG or an LFO. With the right amount of FM, you can get it to sweep between a few different harmonic relationships. Note: I've got dotcom VCOs, not MOTM; using the VCO aid module, the dotcoms have a soft sync attenuator (without the aid module they only have hard sync). I can only assume that the MOTM acts similar to a dotcom with the pot fully open. So, try attenuating the master sync signal, because it does make a difference.
