The transformer is just a 10:1 step-down transformer, going from your household 120AV to 12VAC. It *will* generate some interference, but almost entirely just a 60hz hum. I don't find that wall-warts generate too much noise, as there's a TON of wal-wart happening. I think it might be interesting to run the halogen straight off of the 15 volts on your power supply... OVERCLOCK THE BULB, MAN!
