That is indeed an Electronotes MPWA fed by a bass pitch sawtooth VCO to 
provide the starting point for some subtractive synthesis.  If memory 
serves correctly, the MPWA is followed by a 24db/oct LPF, and a 
bucket-brigade analog delay, both of which are being swept by LFOs.  
There's also some spatial modulation going on.  The "liveliness" is 
provided by the MPWA with its eight internal fixed rate LFOs creating 
eight phase-shifted versions of the input sawtooth, all mixed back with 
the original.  The MPWA had no control inputs.  It had an input jack and 
an output jack, period.  I had a lot of fun with it.  But that synth is 
long gone.  This is one module that hasn't made it into my current synth 
yet.
