Re: [motm] Hook up wire

2003-10-06 by Scott Juskiw

I don't have part numbers for the 22 gauge wire, but I've got Mouser
part numbers for the 18 gauge power supply wire:

1 602-3055-100-01 1 11.370 11.37
          18AWG UL1007 WHT
          Alpha Wire Hook-Up Wire

1 602-3055-100-02 1 11.370 11.37
          18AWG UL1007 BLK
          Alpha Wire Hook-Up Wire

1 602-3055-100-03 1 11.370 11.37
          18AWG UL1007 RED
          Alpha Wire Hook-Up Wire

This wire looks identical to the official MOTM stuff, it probably is
the same stuff.

While we're on this topic, I also picked up a couple of tools for
fixing wires into MTA connectors (Mouser part numbers):

1 571-598041 1 22.000 22.00
          156 T HANDL MAINT TL
          AMP MTA .156' Connectors

1 571-598031 1 20.200 20.20
          100 T HANDL MAINT TL
          AMP MTA .100' Connectors

These aren't the fancy ones with a trigger; these are the T-shaped
ones that still require a vice to hold the connector and a bit of
grunting to get the wire in place. I've found these tools to be much
more reliable than the old pliers method, especially when building 20
power cables. The results are consistent and perfect each time.

These aren't "must have" tools. But if you're taking in your empties,
you might want to consider buying yourself a treat with all that
dough. That's how I celebrated my birthday !
