Thanks.  I am going to take a trip to Lowe's (and also to Sears) to see
about this UniBit.  I have hand-drilled some panels using the
series-of-increasing-size-bits technique.  If the UniBit lends itself to
hand drilling, I will get one.  The secret to hand drilling is to secure the
panel very firmly on the bench, and get the starter hole centered right.  I
use a couple of grip-clamps I bought at Lowe's for one job and have never
ceased to find new uses for them.  They have rubber edges, perfect for
holding panels without scratching.
