Can anyone recommend a good reference for understanding capacitor 
choice for the purposes of analog synthesis?

I find that I'm comfortable picking parts for other components, but 
capacitors still baffle me. I understand the capacitance, voltage and 
lead pitch, but not why one should use one type vs another.

Any help is appreciated.
