Mike, on the LED...

I think the "lens" is actually part of the LED.  The snap-in mounting "flange"
I guess can be removed, but I buy the entire one-part thingy from digikey.
It's a Lumex SSI-LXH387ID, digikey #67-1155-ND (i think).
