Hello Markk (is that with two k's?) ...and welcome to MOTM-dom! MOTM is a great group to be a part of. This is a very creative and intelligent group of individuals. Don't worry about asking questions, even if they seem a bit "out there"; there's always someone willing to be helpful. There's also usually a lot of passionate viewpoints! Don't confuse passion with arrogance or bad feelings - most everyone means well (we all have our bad days, though). Some of us have only a few modules, while others have nearer to 100 (I'm in the middle). It doesn't matter, everyone's given a fair shake; that's one of the great things about this list. And there's always something for everyone to learn, yes? :) ** We have Paul to thank for this excellent experience. ** I also have some of Larry's modules - not bad from a guy who often works with 1000's of volts.. MOTM is a real step-down, eh? <drum hit> His "fingerprints" are also all over the MOTM-850. (btw, joystick control, Larry??) With all of your purchases it sounds like you'll be into some serious DIY, which is great fun! If you search the list history (as well as some of the MOTM user web sites) you'll find interesting mods for some of the MOTM modules. On to ferrite beads... The MOTM part is: muRata BL01RN1 (alliedelec.com #711-4101) A good (improved?) alternate is: Fair-Rite 2743004112 (mouser.com #623-2743004112) Is this what you were looking for? As for power supplies... I started with a MOTM-900 but have outgrown it's capacity. It can power about 20-25 modules "safely" (maintaining a safety margin). Power-One makes plenty of bigger +-15V supplies. I'm going the "DIY route" as we speak and selected the HCC15-3-A which gives 3 amps, which is about 75-90 modules. Is this big enough for you? The HDD15-5-A gives 5 amps, which is about 125-150 modules. Is that better? ;) You'll also need a few MOTM-960 distribution PCBs if you go this route. More info on Power-One: http://www.power-one.com/resources/products/datasheet/lin.pdf The new 500 and 600 series modules require a +5V supply as well as +-15V, so you might consider adding either a MOTM-950 just for those, or a DIY solution such as the HBAA-40W-A (5V@3A, +-15V@.8A) which is "larger" than the MOTM-950, along with the new MOTM-990 6-wire distribution PCB. It's a good idea to keep the supply for the digital modules separate from your analog to "keep the noise out". (Hope I'm not bothering you with information that is obvious to you.) Good luck!
