Good question! As a new MOTM user, I am looking into this as well. I
haven't decided yet if I want to build my own cables or pay a little
extra to have someone like Markertek do it. (Building patch cables
isn't all that exciting.)

For the 1/4" plugs, I am leaning to the Canare F-15:

I have built "RCA" patch cables with the F-10s - these are really nice
connectors, easy to solder, etc. I actually don't have any experience
with the F-15 yet (I hope they have the same "solder cup" for the
center contact as the F-10) - I plan to order a few samples and take a
look before making a final decision.

I don't see any value in using star quad type cable for unbalanced
patch cords. I asked Paul about cables and he mentioned the Conquest
USA-1, which is a single conductor shielded "guitar cord" type cable.
Unfortunately, Markertek doesn't seem to sell this stuff. As an
alternative, I am looking at Mogami 2792 - this is nice flexible cable
that I have used before and it is available in multiple colors.
(Markertek stocks black, blue, green, red, and yellow for the 2792.)
This has a spiral type shield as opposed to a braid so it is much
easier to terminate. It also has the conductive coating over the
insulation on the inner conductors which is intended to reduce
microphonics in the cable. (Handling noise - though probably only
applicable for microphone applications where low signal level/high
gain are involved.)

If anyone else has suggestions for cable - I'd love to hear about it.
