One of the studio standard cans are the Sony MDR-7506. About $100 at Guitar
Center. I have two pair and love 'em. They're not flat, by any means, but
they're very non-ear-fatiguing over long periods of time. And they fold up
into this cool carrying pouch. Sealed design.

For a flatter, more bomb-proof, cheaper pair, the Fostex T-40's are another
common studio staple. Live instrumentalists and singers tend to like the
Fostex's better (flat response), I like the Sonys for working, tho'.
