MOTM

How would I convert a patchbay to a multiples panel? I guess that's
easier and cheaper than drilling holes and buying jacks.

Not really.  neutrik connectors and XLR connecters use much larger 
mounting holes.  you'd probably be better off getting one designed 
for 1/4" jacks.  Try out the behringer patchbay, seriously, they're 
stupidly cheap.  www.behringer.com  or check out accessories at
