The Middle Atlantic screws are definitely steel.  Actually, I've never seen 
aluminum rack screws, which would obviously be unsuitable for holding heavy 
equipment in a rack.  I've used the Middle Atlantic screws on 84-pound Crest 
8001 amps in racks on world tours and have never had a problem.
