Had similar problems (which had its root in a 64bit issue). Maybe you
want to take a look at the libspf2 section of
http://jk.kom.tuwien.ac.at/software/milter-greylist/ where I collected
some patches moving around for libspf2 1.2.5 (which helped me to get
libspf2 work on Fedora 6 Linux on x86_64 hardware and Solaris Sparc+x86).

I think if the Debian distribution contains libspf2 it would be well
patched also. Possibly use this as base for creating your own package
from source.
