is there a reason that my old poly-800 won't hold it's program.
it works fine, but, turn it off and everything is gone.
is there something hiding inside to look for.

Yep, I changed mine a couple years back. Seems like it was only the center conductor contact that was soldered. It wasn't too bad, just use the coolest iron you can get. (I have one of those butane irons from Radio Shack...very nice..infinitely adjustable...just don't use around combustibles!)

it'll be the battery, i think its just a PC CMOS battery
just be carefull soldering it back in, apparently it can kill

Since all you need to do is ensure that /CE is high and there is power
to the chip, it should be easy enough to bodge in the required diode,
resistor and battery to any model.

Here's how I ended up replacing the battery to my DW-6000 which has the same soldered in battery:You can get this board with a battery holder for a CR-2032 fromhttp://www.nkcelect ronics.com/ battery-holder- board-cr20322032 .html for $3.49 and jumper it to the main board with a lot less hassle and the ability to replace it again at some point far in the future. -pcOn Sep 11, 2009, at 2:01 PM, Gordon JC Pearce wrote:On Fri, 2009-09-11 at 07:06 -0700, Michael Hawkins wrote:
