Midi IN not working

Midi IN not working

2006-03-12 by Manu

Hello all, this is my first post here :) I have a Poly-800 Mk1. When I
bought it, it was dirty, smelled like if Poly-800s could smoke, one key
was not working and Midi IN port seemed dead. I cleaned it during hours,
did the moog slayer mod, the battery mod, bought a socket and replaced
the Sharp PC900 because it looked bad to me (oxidized legs), and
restored the original patches using my MiniDisc plugged into the
cassette port.

Synth have brought to live again, all worked at the first chance. All?
No, not all. Midi IN is still dead :( Midi OUT works, but looks like the
oxidized PC900 was not the cause (or, at least, the *only* cause).

I downloaded the schematics on the files section of this mailing list,
and I see the Midi IN "circuit" looks very simple. Maybe IC26 is dead?
There are a lot of other thing connected to it, and Midi IN is the only
failing. Shame that today is sunday, so I can't buy another until
tomorrow :(

If someone had a similar problem and fixed it, it would be great to know
your experience.

Thanks in advance :)

Manu

What channel are you sending midi data to it on?

theres a parameter (86) which sets the channel the poly receives midi on

you could try experimenting with that!

Best Regards,

Marcus

If I'm not wrong, it should listen to all channels by default, and use
them for the in use patch. Am i wrong? All in all, I already tried, for
example, to listen to channel 3 and send data to it with no luck. Am I
doing something in the wrong way? If I have to do extra steps rather
than just powering the poly on I would be happy to try :) Thanks a lot.
