As long as the voltage rating is correct, it will work fine. The polarity must match the Poly800. There should be markings on the poly and the AC adapter

You can use any universal power supply that comes with different voltages and connector adaptors. But it should have 300-500mA max., because it delivers higher

I ve been using a 1 amp 9v adapter without any problems for quite some time now, so the internal regulator is probly fairly lenient on what voltage it s given.
