Hello everybody,

I'd like to welcome two new members maxsoundstudios and rokizilla who
joined (indepent from each other).

@maxsoundstudios and rokizilla: Feel free to introduce yourself. Though
there is not a lot of traffic in this group, there is from time to time
quite interesting information coming over this line...

(...and keep your eyes open - I did a lot of modifications to my
Monopoly last week; I had not yet the time to document them all, but it
is coming soon... :-) )

Modifications for the MonoPoly

2011-01-20 by Florian Anwander

Hello everybody,

as I promised last week I made most of the documentation on the
modifications of my monopoly.

The topics in short:
* Disable the reset of key assign mode when switching to effects mode
* V-Trigger to S-Trigger Adapter for the Arpeggio Clock
* Disable clock-reset of arpeggio in internal clock-mode
* Extend the speed range for MG1
* Change the envelopes speed and characteristics
* VCO 4 as alternative modulation source for the modwheel for filter
cross modulation (this one is still missing in the document, but already
done in my MP).

For the ugly details see:
http://fa.utfs.org/diy/korg_monopoly/modifications.html

I will add pictures and audio demos hopefully soon.

Comments are welcome.

Hello

I now added further pictures to my modification page, and added some
more details in the description. Audio demos are still to be made.

Re: [korg_mono-poly] Modifications for the MonoPoly

Hi Florian, I'm new to the group - eagerly awaiting a Mono/Poly that should arrive in the next week.

Meanwhile, since I have a tech background, I'm also interested in mods.  I've done a bunch to an old Yamaha CSY-2AE organ (contains the 2nd generation of their SY-1 topology), so I'm reasonably familiar with the standard constructs.  (S&H, Ring Mod with dynamic VCO, Moog Ladder Filter, Pink/White Analog noise, mixer, etc.)

I have yet to look into the Mono/Poly design in a big way, but the most obvious mod would be to do the polyphonic VCF/VCA that you mentioned was something that you were working on?  I may have missed related posted updates but wanted to know how this worked out for you?   I have a bunch of IR3109's filter chips from an old Roland unit, ideally configured as state variable design. Individual ADSR's would be nice...

The main issue that I can see might be the keyboard tracking, but I gather that can be picked up off the corresponding VCO?

I have a spare keyboard off a CSY synth/organ with mechanical 'aftertouch' so I expect to use that in place of the missing keyboard of the Mono/Poly to provide real time control of whatever c/v parameter.

Any new suggestions since your initial considerations would be good to know, as well as any practical tips or precautions you've come across.

Thanks!

Thanks Chip, the S&H looks pretty good - I'd used the one listed on Yves Usson's website, older fet based design that worked out for my CSY-2AE retrofit... The one from Old Crow uses the integrated S&H which definitely would be easier in some respects - I'll have to see what else he might have posted.

I came across your own Blog and enjoyed the projects you've got listed - thanks for posting!
