I just bought a K3 with one problem--one of the keys doesn't send
velocity information.  (It does sound the note.)  Anybody have a
replacement part?  (And if you don't, how hard do you think it would
be to swap out the defective part with a key I don't use as much, like
a very high or low note?)

You would have to replace the pc board that runs underneath the keyboard. It would take about 1 hour, no soldering involved, just lots of screws and funny pins.

my unresponsive key and forget about it?

I don't know, since it is the only synth I have completely disassembled before. I have heard that you can clean the contacts however - that might fix your problem. Once you get all the screws out, you lift the keyboard up and disconnect the ribbon connector from the bottom, flip the keyboard over and try not to destroy the motherboard in the process, use a Phillips to unscrew all the screws on the velocity sensor pc board, then use a flathead to pop all the long metal pins that brace it in loose from the aluminum frame that holds the keys.
The circuit board has lots of little rubber thingys that the keys hit, they lift up and there are metal contacts under them. What chemicals to use to clean them safely, I don't know.

I have at least 3 keys that don't work on one of my K3's and so I mainly use it as a midi module.
