If you don't like to do your own patches, you could download some soundfonts to check out whether that's more after your taste. A good site to start with would be www.hammersound.net - tons of free soundfonts of all genres. As you are on a Mac you will perhaps get you some tool to decompress .rar files, plus some of those files are in .sfArk or .sfPack format - in that case you may even need virtual PC or so to run the appropriate decompression programs. Then, there have also been quite a few "native" patches being hosted through people on this list (sorry, my own site is down, still looking for a new web hosting service). http://musicbootcamp.com/audio_sample_library.shtml has a list for EXS sites and in the group section of Yahoo (see footer) you'll find another link site.
