EXS24 is loading the wrong instrument file

EXS24 is loading the wrong instrument file

Help!! My EXS24 is loading the wrong instrument file!

I am trying to save a EXS plugin setting setting file which contains
a reference to the clavinet exs instrument that was installed to my
hard drive from the EXS factory CD. This clavinet instrument is
stored the file:

D:\Sampler Instruments\EXS24 Factory Sounds\01-Piano\cavinet.exs.

There is also another clavinet patch on my machine, derived from an
Akai file. This is located in

D:\Sampler Instruments\Akai S5000 Library\Volume 1 -
Various\Piano\MIX_PIANO\Clavinet.exs.

From a blank song, with a single EXS24 added, I load the original
EXS24 clavinet Instrument using the instrument flip menu. I then
use the 'save setting' menu from the EXS plugin window and save my
setting .PST file to the default 'Plug-In Settings\ESX24' folder.
Shut down Logic and restart. No I load up an EXS24 and recall
the .PST. file. And instead of the EXS clavinet, I find it's loaded
the Akai one. Arghhh.

Can anyone else re-create this problem?

I understand that the PST file contains a reference to the EXS
instrument file. It would appear that the full path to the EXS file
is not saved in the PST file and it is loading the first EXS file
called 'clavinet.exs' that it finds. Which in this case is the one
in the Akai folder.

This problem can also be seen when a song containing an EXS24 is
saved and re-loaded.

Regards

I've had the same problem myself (on a Mac). I think you're
right--the exs just loads the first instrument with the right name it
finds in the list of instruments. The only thing I've found to do is
delete or rename duplicate instruments so that every instrument
has a unique name. The only disadvantage with this would be if
you've used both versions of the instrument in different songs.
The renamed one would come up as the unrenamed one.
