How do you make the second >bank go to a second group before the merge (doing so afterwards >would, I would think, be rather labor intensive)? Not sure if I understand your question correctly (the use of the word 'bank' in the context of the EXS which doesn't have banks confuses me), but: if you have 2 EXS programs in which the zones are assigned to one group, and you then copy/paste everything (zones plus belonging group) into a new editor window, you'll end up with 2 layers of zones, where each layer is assigned to its own group (since you copied the group _with_ the zones when doing the copy/paste). It's then fairly easy to change the 'select by' definition of the 2 groups. I.e. the trick is to have the original instruments set up properly, grouped and all. Copying and pasting duplicates the original structure, so that it's easy to select the original layers in the composite instrument. If I misunderstood your question, please give it another try :-). -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.omega-art.com
