If you open the EXS intstrument editor and then look in the edit menu you will see "preferences" and that's where this setting is made. If you have plenty of RAM (as you do) then this option consumes more RAM but saves on CPU as otherwise Logic has to convert all samples stored in RAM in 16 bit or 24 bit linear format to 32 bit float format on the fly. On a big drum kit like the Stereo Drums this can make a huge difference to the amount of CPU resources consumed. Of course the other things you can do are A) minimize the number of voices for the instruments you are using and B) turn off filters which gobble CPU cycles. Regards, Murray
