EMAX II vs Emax I sound.

EMAX II vs Emax I sound.

On another thread it is been discused about the sample conversion with EMXP and so.

For those interested, I made a comparison between the EMAX II (I recently bought) and the Emax I sound.

First, a commercial recording individually sampled on each one, and the result:

Then, I loaded an Emax I floppy into both Emax I and II, and played the same preset on both:

Finally, the filters in action with the same sound (Emax I sample):

On the two last, the sound seems to be less punchier on the EMAX II. I think appart from the filter, it is due to the fact of the EMAX II converting the Emax I samples. I appreciate there is a lost on the sound on those cases.

Well, I'd guess that most of the difference will come from the Emax I  
being 12 bit
and the Emax II being 16 bit.  Conversion will play a part, but it's  
mostly the
different hardware that makes it sound different.

analog has more drive than the digital filters especialy when the resonance is used on the analog filter
