I would like to know the same thing. EMXP seems not to have support for CF as a removable drive, only zips and CDs.

As far as I understand the process 'theoretically', you first get your Emax II working with the SD/CF upgrade to be able to SEE the drive, SELECT the drive, FORMAT the drive, and then COPY the OS onto the CF (or SD) card while you're at it. Then it should become bootable if you select that drive as the primary boot drive.

Then using EMXP you should be able to treat it as a removable drive and copy over banks of sounds.

My present problem is that WinXP doesn't want to assign a drive letter to an unrecognized file system or 'basic' disk unless it is a 'dynamic' disk at least. Once I allow it to become a dynamic disk in order to assign a drive letter to it, EMXP doesn't recognize it as a removable disk in the panel...my concern is that the EMAX won't recognize it anymore either.

Can someone help out here?

Hey!

I am a Mac user and even I made it work using XP on a Mac.

On Windows XP there is a window where you have your hardware devices, you have to dig in the control pannel and I do not have my computer near me to tell you.

There you will find the USB SD card with some crazi letter assigned, lets say "H". With your right button you can change the letter assigment to the one EMXP is actually looking for as for the "zip drive". And that is it!

I just did it 2 weeks ago and I just started to swap SD cards with the Emax and I installed a 1GB SD card inside the Emax and the system as well and is booting from it.

So, just find the window on XP where you can change your hardware assigment and right click on the device to change the letter.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
