Help - Emax 1 PSU on failing

Help - Emax 1 PSU on failing

2007-02-26 by Simon_Owen

Hi Everyone.

My emax has just started playing up. When i switch on after it being powered off for a few
hours, there does not seem to be any power going to it. All LED's and the LCD are off.
However, if i leave the power switch in the ON position for a couple of mins, then switch off
again, when i switch it back on again, the emax happily powers up.

Does this sound like a capacitor on it's way out and one that could be easily replaced ? Has
anyone else had the same symptoms. I've seen in previous postings that a PC PSU could be
used. Does anyone have the instructions for this?

Any help greatly appriciated.

Regards

Simon

hi... something like taht happens to me once

but, that was because i've unplugged the board cable (the biggest hd-
like cable from board to board)and when i plugged on , the psu becomes
to make a fast click noise.

my solution to the problem was remove that cable and put it on again.
and the noise stops and emax turn on ok.

good luck with that

It doesn't do any harm to periodically unplug/replug the ribbon connections
in both the Emax and Emax II.
I've had strange symptoms happen to both especially when I've not used them
for awhile.
The last time my Emax II's sliders stopped working, calibration values were
silly and didn't respond to new settings.
I just unplugged/replugged evertyhing I could see inside, and everything returned
to normal !
