Re: [emax] troubleshooting EMXP

2013-10-22 by Michael Padilla

Seeing all of these listserve posts on this floppy disk OS issue: Windrum, have you considered paying the $5.95 plus $3.00 domestic shipping to just order an Emax Plus 1.0 operating disc from Route 66? It seems that that would be simpler, less time consuming and certainly less frustrating.
No I have no connection to the above vendor whatsoever.
Please don't take this as any criticism of trying to go the PC route on this. Just trying to think of another option to solve the problem. Ted as usual is so gracious in sharing his knowledge, and patient in assisting you and the listserve with the problem.
Best wishes,
Mike

1) You cannot use any IDE interface drives directly with Emax.
2) I downloaded and double click the dos exe and it said "please insert floppy" here at work. You are making this step / item too difficult by "over-analyzing" the process.

Not quite sure how I'd execute
That Dos622.exe from within windows
So that I can then use EMXutil
Gonna experiment
If worse comes to worse there's
HxC floppy emulator
Or internal IDE Zip in the Emax

You can't attach a pic to a mail to the group.

You would have to put it in the group files, or in your mail provide a link to the picture.

esynthesist is a member on the group and is the developer of EMXP and you can contact him directly through his website also…

With that said- I have never tried formatting a floppy with EMXP.
Usually I format a floppy on the EMAX, then use EMXUTIL or EMX (or EMXP) to write the OS file to the already formatted disk.

Have you tried that?

I'd love to help the users out in the group but
