there is no cheap cf drives doing it your self is the cheapest option buy an acard 720u scsi to ide adapter
and a ide to cf adapter 32mb cf cards are £3-5 so yes they are as cheap as zip disks
plus get a slimfloppy from ted as its easier to format the cf this way
