RE: [emax] Please advise : EMAX vs Emulator II

2001-10-01 by Rob EmuArc

Hi,
The Emax was designed as a low cost emulatuion of the Emulator II, and it
has a very similar spec (8 voices, same basic sample rate, same memory size,
analog filters). However the Emax is NOT an exact duplication and there are
differences in the sample replay engine (custom E chip rather than TTL). The
Emulator II does seem to sound more classy and it has a certain prescence.
The sample libraries have some differences too, the GOLD series Emax sample
diskettes are worth hunting out. There are some very good EII and Emax
sounds on CDROM.

The Emax is easier to find with a hard disk, and can even cope with a ZIP
drive if you get the right model. It is a bit more flexible too in terms of
digital sound processing. Both models can use a computer sample editor sucgh
as Sound Designer I and II pre 2.8.

We will be loading up some recordings of every Emulator/Emax soon, so you
can listen to the differences.

We suggest buying both !!!

Regards

Rob

Subject: [emax] Please advise : EMAX vs Emulator II

  Hello

I'd like to now how much sound difference beetwin EMAX and
Emulator II.I've heard very nice tracks with Emulator II and
just wondering if EMAX can be sound close to it.Basically
sound routines and design in EMAX are similar to Emulator II(except
large scale IC's insted standart chips) but
anyway it should be differences. If anybody compared side by side
  EMAX and Emulator II?

  Thanks.
