Don't panic!
A 4 thru 8Mb Emax II has a daughterboard with all the extra memory
that plugs into the original memory board of the unit. These are
notoriously difficult to get in and seated well enough for the Emax II to
recognize them. Chances are while in storage or while being moved
this board came loose and the Emax now doesn't see the amount of
memory it expects.
You need to unplug the unit, take it off the top panel (back panel
comes with it to) and try to reseat the daughterboard. Chances are
once you do that the unit will see the memory and that's that.
Pay attention to what you are doing while taking it apart, often the
output board's ribbon cable becomes unplugged and you'll need to plug
it back in before closing the unit up.
There is a very slight chance that the Emax II might want you to
reinitialize the memory which means you might need to call E-mu. But,
don't worry about that, because it's highly doubtful.
