the first ensoniq sampler the 12 bit mirage and the rack versions the DMS-1
and DMS-8
(which were used extensively by jimmy jam and terry lewis on janet jacksons
first album)
also sound very powerful as well as the very first emu 8 bit emulators, I
and II
... perhaps its the lower bit resolution ??

What is it about the emax that gives it such a powerful sound?

I have been playing with the synth patches (Das Synth and FM synth)
and have to say that they sound way more impressive than my D50, TX7
or M1 synths!Are the synth patches samples or SE created internally?

Thought this may generate some discussion instead of the usual
problems and repairs :-)
