You could do either one.
Just make sure you are setup with a single chain for the scsi bus (not a star like Emu was doing with their internal to external add-on port).I have posted about this before on the group, but you can certainly ask for specifics if you can't find it in the archives....
Sometimes it's simpler to draw a picture, and maybe I should do that on my website.... hmmm... thinking....

Thanks Ted; I was hoping it was a fairly safe bet.
I have another question, or 2, that just came to mind that I may have missed or overlooked in my research.Ideally I'd prefer to take the PCD out of the external case, install it internally at SCSI 0 as my boot drive, and put the HD into the external enclosure on a different scsi id for short-term/temporary work like moving banks between my other Emaxes as well as EMXP. Conceptually speaking, is this as straightforward as I am making it out to be?
If that won't work and I wanted to keep the internal HD for a bit, couldn't I use the PLUS OS, keep the internal HD (at scsi 0) and set the PC Card reader for scsi ID 1 (or higher if needed) and then use the PCD externally and the transpose button to pick between scsi device ids?Regards,Jim
