Do you have the 50B as the only item in the SCSI chain and and the terminator on the J3 jumper set across the two top pins?
Ie for the 50B to be set to SCSI ID zero and terminated the J3 will look like this
J3 * *-white jumper connected across here
* *
* *
* *
Also, ensure your PCMCIA adapter card hasn't wigged out on you and that when the EmaX attempts to access the SCSI device you can see the green light going on the PCB

1. I got SCSI retrofit (from Ted) for mu EMAX I rack installed and upgraded OS to Emax Plus rev1.0 SE

2. I got PCD 50b (form Mech) and PCMCIA-SD card adapter.

now,

1. My Emax reads and writes an old scsi HD (=> retrofit works).

2. My Roland S760 sampler reads and writes SD cards in 50b (=> 50b works).

3. Connected 50b to Emax, terminated and set scsi ID=0

4. My Emax can not format SD cards in 50b (HD Format error)

Why ?

I am tired of searching old posts.
I will appreciate any wise suggestion.

Great, thanks Jack. I'm in the U.S.

Ted, I'll get in touch off list.

I installed the PCD 50B, but I can't get it to correctly format a Compact Flash card. Every time it produces an "HD Format Error" or freezes on "Formatting HD..." indefinitely. In one case, the unit froze while it was saving a bank to the formatted disk.
