How do I get Support at Elektron?

How do I get Support at Elektron?

2004-07-05 by allen949@aol.com

I believe that I have a defective MnM, or at least a finicky one. The MIDI
OUT port appears to be nonfunctional (I only tried to use it for the first time
after owning the machine for around 2 months) despite my trying any number of
combinations of Global settings. This means no Sysex dumps for backup, and
no triggering of external gear. I have written to elektron support several
times over the past 2-3 weeks and I have tried any suggestion I have found from
this list.

My most recent response from elektron is as follows:

>"I´m really sorry that your machine acts this way but please understand
>that this problem is very very unlikely to ever happen and in 99& of the
>cases resolve to a user / software problem instead of an actual hardware
>problem.

>I must ask you to try some more as I cannot see what kind of hardware
>problem it could be.

>We have a service representative in CA and that´s where all the US repairs
>go.

>Please try it out some more."

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Is there a way to test the MIDI OUT port?
MIDI In and THRU work fine. I updated to OS 1.03 without incident (so my
cables and interface must work).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you,
A

What are you doing with the MIDI out port that makes you believe it
doesn't work?
What sort of routing/control are you trying to achieve and what
settings are you using
in the MnM and whatever's attached to it?

I don't blame Elektron for urging you to check all possibilities
(especially if in their
knowledge of the hardware, they don't see how such a fault could
occur). I know of
several occasions on this list where people have panicked over what
they thought
was a hardware problem with their MD/MnM only to find out that an
internal
setting was at fault. With that said, I know it's frustrating to have
a non-working
expensive machine in your hands. So hopefully we can help you
narrow-down the
problem.
