Syncing the Monomachine?

Syncing the Monomachine?

2004-07-03 by jgb@c64.org

'lo there. There seems to be weirdness in my Monomachine, and I am curious
whether other people have experienced the same problems. Updated to latest
OSs on both MD and mono.

* Problem one, lost MIDI sync
I've got the Machinedrum as midi sync master, the mono as slave. The mono
is in external sync mode, and the MD is sending out midi time code as it
ought to (as far as I know).

One the MD I have a drum track of one pattern, on the mono I am in song
mode. When I start the MD everything starts playing in sync. Two patterns
are played totally in sync on the mono, but when the song enters the third
pattern the mono starts lagging. For some to me unknown reason.

If I skip song mode on the mono and play patterns instead it works as in
song mode. The first two patterns play perfectly in sync, but when I
(manually) swith to the third pattern sync is lost. If I start playing on
the third pattern directly, sync is lost too. This is valid for in total
six patterns out of the eight patterns in total that make up the song.

* Problem two, no midi sync out from the mono when using Doepfer MSY2 I am
using a Doepfer MSY2 to sync up older din sync gear like 303/606/808, but
this doesn't work with the mono as midi master. Works perfectly with the
MD, but something is different with the mono. The MD syncs up fine to the
mono, but the midi out from the mono differs from the one from the MD
somehow.

So, the MD syncs to the mono fine, but I cannot sync my older gear using
the Doepfer MSY2. What is the difference in midi output? The "Transport"
and "Midi clock" values in the global settings slot I use are both set to
"Out".

If anyone has any input in this, please help me!

Do you have some swing setting in third pattern? I don't know how it
is nowaday, but somewhere in the beta stage of MnM os, I noticed that
the swing setting could cause Mono to drift from Midi sync. Worth a
check I guess.

I have the same swing for the third pattern as for pattern one and two.
51%. I am using the same kit for all patterna. :(

Le Dust Sucker

2004-07-05 by Flo Zombie

I am just listening to the new Album of "Le Dust Sucker".
I think I just heard a Sidstation. I mean I am shure.

Phantastic Album by the way,
the best I have heard in a long time.
