i dont use a pc for midi sequencing so how do i upgrade the o/s?

can i use the rm1x as it supports sys ex

do i just save the two files to disk and "play them" into the
sequencer as a song file at a certain tempo?

I ask this, as years ago i used to update the o/s on my novation nova
the same way...

but i dont understand why there's two files?

one for o/s and when fro sys ex???

I don't know if you can do that or not. possibly....

no. they both update the OS; they're just different file
formats for people with different setups. i.e. people in
your situation would want to use the MIDI one, I think...

hmmm

anyone else with some concrete help here??

the thing is im putting off actually buying a monomachine, as Im
aware software updates are almost every 3 months or so, so if ican't
even upgrade the unit from the factory/showroom at least ONCE to
bring it up to new spec, then Im in deep doo-doo!!?!?

incidentally, can you easily mute/umute parts while a sequence is
running, a la rm1x?

well, that won't always be the case. It's only been out for a year
so they've been trying to get the OS to where they want it. I think
that pretty soon you'll see much less frequent OS updates. so you
might be able to use a friend's computer every once in a while when
you need to.

incidentally, even if you just have a computer and $30-40 to spare, you
can update the OS. you can get a USB to MIDI interface for that much
(maybe cheaper) and the software to update with is free. check out
the Machinedrum FAQ on this subject in the group's
files->Machinedrum->other section (the same idea applies to the
Monomachine).

yes, very easily. there's a mute window that opens and allows
you to mute/unmute several tracks at once. you can also make it
so that several mute/unmute actions all take place at the exact
same time.

MUTE was: i dont use a pc for midi sequencing so how do i upgrade the o/s?

does this bother anyone else: when you are in mute mode and want to
tweak parameters at the same time, the "mutemode" window gets smaller
but is positioned in very stupid way -> over the low left corner of
the parameters so that you can't see what you're actually doing to
couple of the parameters. my suggestion would be to place the small
mute box over the tempo indicator (for instace) since you propably
won't need to know the exact tempo all the time...? maybe this could
be proposed to elektron if people agree with me...

cheers

both in songmode & pattern mode...

Strongly agree as well!

Was just doing a live mix about 5 minutes ago and it annoys the hell
out of me.

Hate the way it sits in the middle of the screen, agree it should go
over the "Tempo" area as very few are likely to change the tempo on
the fly?

And if you do, may by holding/pressing the tempo button it can breifly
hide the "Mute" box till you let it go?
