It's only been out for a year so they've been trying to get the OS to where they want it. I think that pretty soon you'll see much less frequent OS updates. so you might be able to use a friend's computer every once in a while when you need to. incidentally, even if you just have a computer and $30-40 to spare, you can update the OS. you can get a USB to MIDI interface for that much (maybe cheaper) and the software to update with is free. check out the Machinedrum FAQ on this subject in the group's files->Machinedrum->other section (the same idea applies to the Monomachine). > incidentally, can you easily mute/umute parts while a sequence is > running, a la rm1x? yes, very easily. there's a mute window that opens and allows you to mute/unmute several tracks at once. you can also make it so that several mute/unmute actions all take place at the exact same time.
